01 · Why

Why ESG, from day one

We started in 2020 with one rule: a business should make a profit and a positive contribution to society and the environment, together. Our founder calls it conscious capitalism. We run it as four Ps: product, people, planet, profit. Product means beans sustainably sourced and Fairtrade-certified. People means wages above the national minimum. Planet means zero-waste practice since 2024. Profit means at least five per cent of net profit committed to social causes.

On stage at MAHA 2026 we shared three working rules: do business honestly and openly; talk with customers, suppliers, staff and the people around us; and choose suppliers who also look after the environment and their workers.

02 · Programmes

Programmes

What we run, what we are building, and what is paused.

Active

Bean2Blossom

Used coffee grounds are collected from our machines on service visits and composted instead of being sent to landfill. The compost goes to urban farming and landscaping. It is the simplest thing we do, and the one we are proudest of.

In development

MyCelium

Used grounds become the growing substrate for mushroom cultivation. We are targeting partnerships with B40 communities.

In development

Inclusive Business Programme

With SME Corp Malaysia and MAIWP, we are preparing to train asnaf recipients as micro-entrepreneurs who operate Coffee Star kiosks at mosques. The aim is a livelihood, built on a kiosk we already know how to run.

Paused

Suqya @ Road2Haramain

A waqf project to serve free coffee to Malaysian pilgrims at the Haramain. It was a Top 10 Finalist in Hajj Sustainability Solutions and is currently paused.
